Rocks Off: Dominique Tarle -- Limited Edition Photo Catalog

In celebration of the just-released deluxe expanded editions of the Rolling Stones' landmark album, Exile on Main St, La Galerie De L'Instant, Paris, is holding an exhibition of rare photos from two of the band's most important photographers: Dominique Tarle and Ethan Russell.

Soul Survivors Opening, La Galerie De L'Instant (May 20, 2010)

Entitled Soul Survivors, the exhibit features Russell's photos from the Rolling Stones' 1969 and 1972 world tours, as well as what has become the most famous images of the band--Tarle's documentation of the summer of 1971 at Keith Richards' Villa at Nellcote, where the band recorded many of the tracks that would end up on the legendary Exile on Main St album.

Mick Jagger, Bianca Jagger (1971), from Rocks Off

In conjunction with this exhibit, La Galerie De L'Instant, is offering a limited quantity of Rocks Off, a book cataloging a selection of Dominique Tarle images. This fifty-seven page clothbound book, measuring 21.5 cm x 22 cm, features some of the same Nellcote photos found in the recent Exile on Main St Super Deluxe Edition Box Set book, as well as at least one alternative shot not found with the box set. Rocks Off, also includes images of other rock legends of the era, such as Pete Townshend, John Lennon and Jimmy Page. Each copy is individually numbered and signed by Tarle, and the printing will be limited to 1000 copies.

Jimi Hendrix (1967), from Rocks Off

There are two primary groups of people who will be interested in the Rocks Off catalog:  Fans of Dominique Tarle's work will obviously want the catalog for their collections. Stones fans who don't have the all-inclusive, and now uber-expensive Genesis Publications book, Exile--will also want the alternative shot found in this catalog that isn't contained in the recent box set.

Jake Weber, Mick Jagger (1971), from Rocks Off

Even those who balked at the box set, but would like some of the Nellcote photos in a signed, numbered collectible will want to acquire this book. While relatively small in size (approx. 8.5" x 8") and only 57 pages, the weak Euro does render it less expensive than the box set--and as a truly limited and signed edition, it may very well rise in value in the future.

Soul Survivors  runs through September 22, 2010, at La Galerie De L'Instant, Paris, France.

Think of this as a virtual community where you can make friends
with someone halfway around the world. Only four players can use these remotes at the same time instead of
up to seven as is available with other choices. Adventure games can include God of war,
Wild West, Wild Arms, as well as puzzle games, and real-life home-based systems such as the Simpsons for younger players.
